- was trained in European classical music from a young age: piano lessons, choir practice most days and later, a thorough grounding in harmony and counterpoint.
- started to compose aged twelve and took additional lessons in brass, strings, woodwind, singing and organ. (It is so much easier to write for an instrument if you can play it.)
- read music at Durham University, UK - a rebellious student of composers David Lumsdaine and John Lambert.
- entered the teaching profession with a post-graduate teacher’s certificate from St. Martin’s College, Lancaster.
- has worked as a teacher then as a software engineer.
- has a breadth of musical experience, having conducted brass bands, orchestras and choirs, played alto saxophone in the Vernon Gallery Big Band, synth/piano in the Ken Nicol Band, synth/sax in the Steve Hesketh Blues Band and much besides.
- is fascinated by astronomy and astrophotography. Some of the images she has captured are featured here.
- would love to hear from performers looking for new music. (See contact page)
